Sam joined Royal Palm Golf Club in April 2020 after a 24-year career at Redding Country Club in Redding, Connecticut as a Head Golf Pro. Sam received his PGA Class A membership in 1995 and was just honored with the Quarter Century Milestone Award from the PGA of America. Before Redding Country Club, Sam worked as an Assistant Golf Pro at Yahnundasis Golf Club in Utica, New York, Seawane Golf Club in Hewlett Harbor, New York, and Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton, Connecticut. Sam grew up in Anniston, Alabama, and went on to play Division 1 golf at Clemson University. In 1990, he played on the golf team that won 3 ACC Golf Championships and two top 5 finishes at the NCAA Championship. His playing achievements include runner up finishes in the New York State Open at Bethpage Black and the Connecticut State Open at Woodway Country Club in Darien, Connecticut. He holds two course records: 63 at Redding Country Club and 62 at Waccabuc Golf Club in Lewiston, New York.
